Research Ethics and Governance Conference 2016
Date and time
Location
Portland Building
Portsmouth PO1 3AH United KingdomDescription
We are pleased to invite all staff to attend this year's Research Ethics and Governance Conference.
The theme of the Biennial Research Ethics and Governance Conference is 'The Ethical Challenges of Internet Mediated Research (IMR)'.
The internet, particularly social media, provides growing opportunities for researchers; a ready source of data, recruitment and research engagement. Data can be easily accessible – does the fact that they can be in the public domain mean that no ethical issues arise? Is it ethical to engage with participants in action research using social media? Is covert engagement ever ethical? The conference will address these, and many more similarly interesting questions.
This all day event is an opportunity for all academic staff but should be of particular interest to those serving on university ethics committees and those involved in internet mediated research.
Confirmed speakers include:
Dr Lisa Suguira - Ethical challenges in online research: experiences from the frontline
Harry Evans, Research Analyst, Social Research Institute, Ipsos MORI - Where next for #Social Ethics
